There is some really impressive work being done over at Mod The Galaxy regarding bringing in new planets to the base game. Its always been easy to recolor Rori and edit snapshot files and call it a new planet like other servers have done, but the work that's going on over there is far beyond that.

My question to the community is, would new planets be something that you''d be interested in seeing here on Reckoning?

Yes, But they would need content also , an incentive for players to go there :) . Thanks.

have to agree. not much point to adding new planets if they're just another place to drop harvesters.

where will they fall in the scale of things - top-end 'adventure' planets like Dath, Endor and Yavin? upper middle, like Dant and Lok? lower middle, like Talus and Rori? or 'starter' planets like Tat, Naboo and Cor? will we be able to build cities on them? will they add a theme park for either side or both? or some other sort of content like DWB or the Warrens?

I'd say "inquiring minds want to know" but I'm more being nosy :P

Since we are not yet overrun with player cities, planets that support housing would not be needed in the first ones added. Though as it goes forward a planet that was better suited to player cities than some we have would be nice also, with large flat expanses just for cities.

Another interesting planet would be a full PvP zone planet. Maybe similar to Deep Space for pilots where before you can enter you must either be Rebel, Imperial, or if civilian you must choose a side before entering but return to civilian when leaving, but it is fully PvP there at all times.

As population grows, more wide open spaces will always be welcome. By the end of Live, you could hardly walk on any planet that allowed houses without running into one.

id be all for a pvp planet. eveyone is flagged up and non stop pvp for when people are there but to keep it semi fair could throw down like blue frogs in the non pvp area to like get foods ready and groups etc so everyone has same buffs.

Of course a new planet will have new content, An empty planet would be no fun at all. As to player houses on the new planets, that's undecided at this time. This is more of me gathering the feel of the community on the subject. I know some think the game should remain pure, while others would love to see something like this. Further decisions and details will be hashed out if we move forward on this.

I'd be eying adding something like this for either Publish 9 or shortly afterwards.

Would love any and ALL new content that does not break the base game.

Armour and weapons from post-cu would also be a great addition, as long as stats remained within pre-cu parameters.

Agreed with this, as much as I loved the CU expansion planets and the gear that came with it, if Reckoning is to do something similar it would probably be more in-line with Pre-CU if armor/weapons dropped as schematics first, then fit into the crafting system, but not have all the post-CU content the 'de-facto' option... Example Composite armor in the armor category due to it's resistance mechanics is regarded as the 'best' overall armor if made correctly for human-like races, if they introduced a new crafted type armor from post-CU SWG, make it at least on-par with Composite, if not slightly less preferred, or maybe more in niche situations.

Just my 2 credits.

Agreed. Making either armor or weapons that are superior to what we have now can very easily destroy what balance we have.

Escalating both sides of the combat equation is as bad as a run away economy.

I've always said that If we add new armor, it'd be in line with Pre-CU. If anything, you could look at it as giving players more armor appearance options. I wouldn't go much further than that.

I would add in craftable factional armor sets with the same materials as composite, and with the color options (like green swamp or gold rebel assault). That would not change anything as far as gameplay and would add in authenticity-- Star Warsy and iconic. :D

you had us all up until this point!!!

Lol in all seriousness i would love to see factional armour as a craftable skin for comp. needs to be purchased from a factional recruiter. I would also like to see a lot of the other armour from cu and nge as craftable loot schematics, similar to the nge housing drops, but with all the requirements and resistances of comp.
